How does the App differ from Supermarket Swap Instagram?

The SEARCH section of the app encompasses months of research from a team consisting of a Food Scientist, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Clinical Nutritionists with detailed information regarding additives and preservatives found in Australian food. As well, the app includes a catalogue of over 2,500 additive free supermarket products to take the guess work out of your grocery shopping. The app also showcases the additive free specials every week so you can make a simple swap for less.

The app has been designed to simplify how you grocery shop.

Is it available for iOS and Android?

Yes, the app is available for download on both Google Play and the App Store.

What do the categories for each additive mean in the App?

All additives in the app are catagories as safe, caution or avoid:

  • Safe (green): Research suggests that this additive is safe for most people. There is no evidence of it being harmful to health.
  • Caution (orange): Research suggests that there are some concerns about the effect of this additive on health, therefore caution is advised.
  • Avoid (red): Research suggests that this additive could potentially be harmful to health, therefore it is best avoided.
Can the app be used in New Zealand?

The product catalogue is for Australian supermarkets and brands; however, it also contains a database that includes information regarding every additive and preservative listed on the Food Standards Council Australia New Zealand. Our New Zealand followers can use the SEARCH function, to check any code when they are in the Supermarket.

Some independent products are available to purchase online and the product links have been included to make online shopping easier. Recipes and Meal Plan can be used by anyone, just keep in mind that the recipe product recommendations may not be available outside of Australia. 

Which supermarket products are included?

The app currently includes additive-free products from Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and Costco.

We have also recently added products available from independent retailers and online. Where possible, the online links have been included so you can find the products at your local stockist.

Can I search by dietary requirement?

Products in the SHOP section can be filtered by meal type or dietaries including Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Vegan. You can also search using key words including lunchbox, entertaining, spread, sauce, bars, frozen, cereal, quick dinner, baking and biscuits, for example.

Recipes in the COOK section can be filtered by meal type or dietaries including Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian.

Subscription Service

Supermarket Swap is free to download, but it requires a subscription to unlock all features. The free version includes access to 1 New Release product each week, 1 Recipe of the Week accessible for 7 days, 3 Community Find products and access to SHARE, so you can send your additive free products in for review. You can also try all of the paid features for free on a 7 day trial.

How much does it cost?

The App has a 7 Day Free Trial, which is available on both Apple and Android. Our subscriptions are available on either an annual or monthly basis:

Billed monthly and cancel anytime

Do you offer a Free Trial?

Yes, simply download the App via your App Store or Google Play and you can try all of the paid features for FREE for 7 days! Just follow the steps on your device to get started. 

Please note that your Apple or Google account will be charged a membership fee if you do not cancel at least 24 hours prior to the free trial ending. 

This offer can only be redeemed once per account on the App Store or Google Play Store.

Subscription renewal

At the expiry of the Subscription Term, the Subscription will automatically renew and continue to renew for a further Subscription Term. You can view your subscription details by following the below steps on your device:

Apple:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  • Tap your name
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Tap the Supermarket Swap subscription
  • Here you can find detailed information on your subscription as well as the renewal date

Android:

  • Open the Google Play app on your Google device
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions
  • Select the Supermarket Swap subscription
  • Here you will find detailed information on your subscription as well as the renewal date
Cancellation

For subscriptions that are purchased through the App, cancellations need to be made through your Apple Subscriptions for iPhone and through the Google Play store for Android. 

Apple:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  • Tap your name
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Tap the Supermarket Swap subscription
  • Tap Cancel Subscription

Android:

  • Open the Google Play app on your Google device
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions
  • Select the Supermarket Swap subscription
  • Tap Cancel subscription
  • Follow the instructions

To avoid being charged, please ensure you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the Subscription Term or the Renewed Subscription Term. You will continue to have access to the App features until the end of your subscription term.

Refunds

Once the Supermarket Swap App is purchased it will be deemed to have been used and you will not be entitled to a refund. You can cancel your subscription up to 24 hours prior to the end of the subscription term to ensure it does not renew. 

My Membership isn’t working like it should?

If you are ever experiencing any issues with your membership, we recommend first logging out and back in on your device to see if this fixes the problem. If not, please reach out to us at support@supermarketswap.com.au with the following information:

  • A screenshot of your subscription on your device
  • The device type you are using (Apple or Android)
  • A brief summary of the issue you are facing

Does the App support Family Sharing?

Currently, Membership Family Sharing is only for the Supermarket Swap App for those on Apple devices who are set up as a Family within their iTunes accounts.

This shared access will allow members of that same Family group to access the paid subscription across multiple devices. Data saved within the App, such as Meal Plans and Shopping Lists, will not transfer across devices.

I'm having issues with the Search function

The search bar function works
on product name, brand name, a hidden filter system and then also by some key
words related to the product. However, if an option isn’t available (like a clean supermarket bacon, for example), then no products will come up.

To ensure you are searching the entire catalogue, once you have tapped on the Shop section, wait for the loading
symbol to finish and for the products to appear in the catalogue. Once this has fully loaded, type your request in the search bar and the suggested products will appear.

Will my subscription still work if I swap from an Apple device to an Android device and vice versa?

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store on Apple and Google Play Store on Andriod devices. For this reason, your membership does not automatically transfer over when you change device types.

Once you have changed your device over, please contact us at support@supermarketswap.com.au and include information about your old and new devices so we can help you with the transition.

Data & Research
How is your research conducted?

Our team of qualified nutrition experts review the latest scientific evidence available for each additive and use this information to update the app regularly. Our aim is to inform you of any potential health concerns associated with each additive so that you can make informed decisions about what you and your family are consuming.

Do you look for products with sustainable packaging?

We believe we can all explore ways to reduce our environmental impact and love finding products that are both additive and preservative free, as well as packaged in a sustainable manner. While it will not always be possible to provide a sustainable option, we take this into consideration and welcome any product suggestions you may have.

Do you share low tox household products?

The App currently includes a selection of low tox products for cleaning, laundry and personal care. More products are being added weekly as they are approved by our team of experts.

Do you promote Australian Made products?

We know Australia has an abundance of top-quality food and talented producers, so we endeavour to promote Australian products whenever we can. Our main mission is to provide you with additive and preservative free options available in the Supermarket. We are always on the lookout for new products and welcome any wonderful Australian product suggestions.

Can I submit a product for consideration?

We welcome you to send us any products you find that you think may be suitable for the App. Please click the Submit A Product icon on the home page of the App to upload a picture of the product, or send it to us in an email at support@supermarketswap.com.au

How are products approved for the App?

We are constantly searching for and finding new products to be considered for the App. Before new products are approved for the App, they are reviewed and approved (or declined) by our nutritionist.

As we champion balance, the products have been ranked on a scale of sometimes to often based on how regularly our nutritionist believes these products should be consumed.

Product ingredient changes

We do our best to stay on top of ingredient changes in our App products by frequently checking the catalogue with information online and in stores.

If you see a product that has changed ingredients that we may not know about, we welcome you to let us know via email support@supermarketswap.com.au

Online Shopping
What are the shipping options?

Free domestic shipping is offered on orders over $100 inc GST.

For all domestic orders under $100 a flat rate of $10.00 shipping applies.

An express shipping option ($20.00) is offered through Australia Post, for next day delivery once dispatched to most capital cities (please note that Australia Post does not guarantee next day delivery but it remains their fastest shipping option, you can read more here). 

Return Policy

As we are a small business, we’re unable to offer refunds for change of mind.

Refunds only considered for items confirmed as faulty. Request a refund on a faulty item by emailing the customer service team at support@supermarketswap.com.au with images of your order number and images of your faulty product within 14 days of receiving – we’re here to help! 

All merchandise orders are final.

Shipping Timeframes

We endeavour to dispatch all orders within 2-3 business days. This time frame may be extended at times due to new launches, sales or other extenuating circumstances. 

All orders will be posted with tracking to avoid any lost or missing deliveries.

An email tracking confirmation will be sent as soon as your order is out for delivery. Please track your parcel using this tracking number provided.

The SS team can not be held responsible for any delays that may happen once the order is in transit with the external delivery company. We are happy to help track and locate your order should need be.

If your parcel is running late or missing, we recommend you use the tracking number provided in your shipping email to contact the correct postal partner and lodge a late or missing parcel enquiry. They will do their best to help you retrieve the parcel. If you need further help please do not hesitate to contact us at support@supermarketswap.com.au. 

To help us assist with any delivery issues, please reach out as soon as possible. If your order is running late, please let us know within 14 days from the estimated arrival date so we can start an inquiry for you. For any missing parcels, please contact us within 48 hours of an attempted delivery if you’re unable to locate your package. After these timeframes, it is difficult for us to assist.

To ensure smooth delivery, please double check that your address details are accurate, especially in apps like ApplePay or PayPal. If redelivery is needed due to incorrect address details, insufficient information, or failure to collect from the pickup point, a redelivery fee of $14.95 will apply. Please note that if an incorrect address was provided and the parcel has already shipped, we won’t be able to retrieve it or offer a refund.

Payments

Payments can be made online with Credit Card. Apple Pay is also offered when using the website on mobile.

Do you ship Internationally?

At this stage, International Shipping is not available through the website. However, if you would like an order shipped internationally, please email us at support@supermarketswap.com.au for a quote. Please note any local taxes or duties are the responsibility of the customer.
