Choc Chip Cookies

These simple cookies can be made by adults or children. From our Cooking with Kids ebook, they are the perfect way to get the kids involved in the kitchen and are a great option if you're thinking of leaving cookies out for the big man in red! 

 

Ingredients
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

 

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 175°C.

Step 2

Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 4

In a larger bowl, beat the softened butter and maple syrup with an electric mixer until creamy.

Step 5

Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Step 7

Fold in the chocolate chips.

Step 8

Using your hands, roll a spoonful of the dough onto a ball and then place on the prepared baking tray.

Step 9

Flatten the balls slightly with the back of the fork.

Step 10

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the tops are lightly golden.

Step 11

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
